At my initial consultation with Mr Madhok he explained to me very clearly and concisely the options available to repair my inguinal hernia and what each would entail enabling me to make an informed choice. I chose a laparoscopic repair. The surgery went very smoothly and I was back in my hospital room within a couple of hours. Pain relief medication was given to me but in all honesty I was in very little discomfort and within about 3 hours I was discharged to go home. I had a little bruising and three very small incisions from the surgery and although I was a little sore for a couple of days I recovered remarkably quickly. By day 4 or 5 I had virtually no discomfort and I had to keep reminding myself I had just had surgery. The wounds were glued rather than stitched and they healed very quickly, without any weeping and without the need for any stitches to be removed. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Madhok to anyone who is considering such a procedure

Doctor madhok performed my gastric sleeve 2 years ago now and he will never understand how greatful I am to him for rebirthing me. My whole life has changed for the better. He put me at ease straight away and addressed any concerns I had no matter how 'silly' they seemed. His after care was amazing and spent time reassuring me. The understanding and care received was what I had been asking for my whole life. I’ve sat at my GP for years asking for help on weigh loss and was told to eat less move more. A theory for many over weigh people that simply doesn’t work, or is short lived. My first meeting with the Dr at Derby needed no excuses about why I was overweight, no faff as to why diets I’ve tried in the past didn’t work. They got it and knew I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t want to change. At no point was judgement ever given. This includes all the staff, from Carole the nurse and dieticians. I honestly thank you for my second life and I just wish I did it earlier !

In 2017 i was mr Madhok s 1st patient at Derby hospital and I feel privileged to say this. I can say he is the most kind and proffessional consultant i have ever been referred to.He showed so much compassion to my husband and myself. Gastric by pass surgery is a very big decision to make and in my case i was 64 years old and atthat age as a retired nurse I new too much about the risks,which made me even more anxious. I should not have worried the care I received was excellent. Mr Madhoks team were second to none at every step of my recovery l was supported.

I was suffering from a large inguinal surgery which was confirmed by Mr Madhok at my appointment in late January. I also had a minor hand injury following a motor vehicle accident a few days before. This was after completion of a course of chemotherapy for prostate cancer in December 2019. I found Mr Madhok to be both attentive and courteous throughout. He arranged for the hernia repair operation two weeks later subject to a satisfactory x ray confirming that my hand was not broken, which thankfully was not. The operation was open surgery due to my prostate cancer and the possibility of future surgery in this respect and was carried out on the afternoon of 14th February. I was able to return home the following day and, due to the skilful work carried out, came off pain killers after five days and have resumed normal ( but cautious) activities after fourteen days. I have nothing but the highest regard for Mr Madhok's professionalism and his warm and courteous manner and have no hesitation in recommending him to others
